MVA Official: KONQER Saipan a Phenomenal Success
THE first Marianas Visitors Authority-sponsored “Konqer Saipan – King of the Hill” event was a phenomenal success, MVA Managing Director Chris Concepcion said.
Konqer Saipan was held on Saturday at Gov. Eloy S. Inos Peace Park.
“We initially targeted 250 participants but we registered 497 this past Saturday,” he said, adding that organizers were thrilled with the turnout.
“We are very happy with our partnership with Konqer Sports who helped put this thing together,” he said.
MVA was pleased to launch the island’s newest sporting event, which Concepcion said was also dedicated to the memory of the late governor, Eloy Inos.
Konqer Sports gave MVA the honorary 498th participant number and posthumously awarded the 499th participant number to Governor Inos who was represented at the event by his daughters Dora and Tina and other family members, Concepcion said.
Konqer Sports and MVA wanted to recognize the late governor for his many contributions to the CNMI, including his efforts to turn the former Puerto Rico landfill into a beautiful community park with a stunning view of the Saipan lagoon, Garapan and Managaha, Concepcion said.
“We plan to make this an annual event, with some changes perhaps next year, and if possible, we want to bring something similar to Tinian and Rota if logistics and funding permit,” he added.
